Besides the recombinant human ErbB3 fragment (rhErbB3) being developed for cancer vaccination and NEUCARDINTM (neuregulin-1; rhNRG-1) for heart failure treatment, Zensun has also developed the following pipeline products:
1. Mixed Vaccines
Mixed vaccine can overcome the immunosuppression or immune escape resulting from single antigen usage, and can more efficiently activate specific anti-tumor immune responses to maximize tumor regression and killing. The mixed vaccine is produced by way of multiple antigen combinations, or construction of fusion proteins of different antigens. The project has progress through the early stages of research and development.
2. Neuregulin Mutants
Based on its studies of rhNRG-1, Zensun has been carrying out research on neuregulin mutants, with the aim of developing multi-valency high affinity binding ligands to provide further pharmacodynamic improvements. The Company is developing the neuregulin mutants as its second generation of products and is in the process of applying for patents covering this work.
3. Enzyme Inhibitor
Zensun has discovered that some enzyme molecules involved in signal transduction play very important roles in cardiac cell growth, proliferation and differentiation. It was shown that the heart function of animal models could be effectively improved by inhibiting such enzymes pathways. Zensun is now applying for patents related to these enzyme inhibitors.
4. Therapeutic Antibodies for Small Cell lung Cancer (SCLC)
Lung cancer carries a high mortality rate. No specific treatment has been developed for SCLC. Zensun has begun to work on a monoclonal antibody for targeted therapy of SCLC. This intellectual property is supported by the National #863 Program. Specific monoclonal antibodies against SCLC have been developed and their chimeric and humanized forms are being evaluated.
Early stage R&D have been completed for all of these pipeline products, and pre-clinical trials have been started. As Zensun owns the intellectual property covering these products they are available for cooperative development or transfer. Expressions of interest relating to these products are welcome from investment organizations or pharmaceutical.
